Harold Laverne Moyer, 95, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 while residing at the home of his son Mike in Springfield, Missouri.

Born June 29, 1922 in Youngstown, Missouri, Harold was the son of the late Thomas Earl and Velma Coral (Pope) Moyer. On August 28, 1946 in Kirksville, Missouri, Harold was united in marriage to Bettie Gene Fletcher who preceded him in death on April 4, 2011. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Reverend Orland Moyer; his son-in-law, Chuck Stearman and five great-grandchildren.

Harold is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Treda Moyer of Springfield, MO and Mark and Ann Moyer of Boonville, MO; one daughter, Diane Stearman of Kirksville, MO; nine grandchildren, Suzanne Elmore and husband Michael of Kirksville, MO, Tommy Moyer and wife Alicia of Arlington, TX, Stephanie Jones and husband Michael, Chad Stearman and wife Kendra all of Kirksville, MO, Drew Moyer and wife Rachael of Philadelphia, MO, Dani McCarty and husband Payden of Kirksville, MO, Millie Moyer of Boonville, MO, and Vinessa Moyer and Becca Moyer both of Springfield, MO, as well as twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Harold was a life long resident of Adair County and served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater and was awarded various medals as well as the Bronze Star. After returning home Harold was a life long cattle farmer and was a masonry contractor for fifty-two years. He loved to sing and sang for many funerals in and around the area. Harold was founder and original Trustee of the Keller Estate.

Harold was a member of Brashear Community Bible Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent.

Public visitation is in progress and family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Reverend Harold Engle officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Parkview Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Ron Alley, Bob Kelsey, Laverne Gerholt, Travis Miller, David Erwin, Mike Allen, Jeff Moyer and Kelly Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Moyer, Dick Gregory, Dale Miller Sr., Mike Elmore, Mike Jones and Duane Lawson.
