Matthew Francis "Matt" Farrell

Matthew Francis "Matt" Farrell

-

Matthew Francis Farrell was born July 13th, 1953. He was the oldest of four children born to Irene and Phillip Farrell.

As a young man, Matt joined the Air Force and served his country for the next 4 years.

In his eyes, Matt would then become the "Fortunate One" when he met the love of his life, Sheri. They married on August 10, 1978 and spent the next 43 years building a life together. Matt and Sheri found their place in the woods and built their forever home that they shared until both their deaths.

Matt explored different interests throughout his life; bread making, gardening, philosophy, as well as studying religions and cultures until he then found his passion and made a living in metal working. Matt created a variety of beautiful pieces, including a bench placed in front of the art center in Kirksville, MO.

Matt had many roles through his life; a brother, a husband, a friend, and an uncle. Each role he put his whole being into. One of Matt's greatest joys was his family. Matt was the center stone to family gatherings, where he brought humor, wisdom, and a sense of peace. There is now a void without his presence. He will always be in our hearts and missed by family and friends.

Matt also enjoyed writing down his thoughts and beliefs on life and afterlife. He wrote inspiring pieces to be remembered. "The one seeing the world through my eyes is also the same being seeing the world through your eyes. The one being is the only actor playing all the parts. May you be blessed to witness this in your life, if only for a moment. God Speed."

After a long and courageous fight with COPD Matt passed away on June 13, 2026 at his home surrounded by family and friends. A gathering will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Matt and Sheri's home.

A memorial fund will go to Hospice of Northeast Missouri, 201 South Baltimore, Suite C, Kirksville, MO 63501, or may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
