Samantha "Sammy" (Sagaser) Hill, 96, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at The Pines in Kirksville.

Samantha was born February 18, 1930 in Atlanta, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence G. and Edolyne S. (Cline) Sagaser. On January 24, 1949 she was married to Charles Wilson Andrews. Jr. of Alamosa, CO. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1965. Two children were born to this union. On September 1, 1968 she was married to H. Roger Hill of rural Novinger, Missouri, who preceded her in death on December 27, 2011.

Sammy was a graduate of Atlanta High School with the Class of 1948 and of Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville in 1969. She and her husband published the family weekly newspaper, The Atlanta Express, from 1954 to 1962. She retired after teaching twenty-eight years, one year at Green City Elementary and twenty-seven years at Ray Miller Elementary, Kirksville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Winigan, moving her membership to First Baptist Church in Kirksville in 2013.

Sammy is survived by five children: Susan DeHamer of Sun City, AZ; Wesley C. (Julie) Andrews of Blue Springs, MO, Michael (Shelia) Hill of Novinger, MO, Melanie (Edward) Grgurich, D.O. of Novinger, MO; daughter-in-law, Deborah Hill of Kirksville, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Lt. Col Matthew (Hannah) Hill US Army of Platte City, MO, Megan (Jared) Sova of Shawnee, KS, Marine Veteran Mark Hill of Kirksville, MO, David (Dave) Hill of Mineola, NY, Veronica (Kevin) Foley of Columbia, MO, Brandy (Charles) Kaiser of Blue Springs, MO, Shea (Drew) Foote of Independence, MO, Tera (Jordan Plumer) Johnson of Wichita, KS, Brendan (Erin DO) Grgurich of Novinger, MO, Elise (Isaac) Scoggin, DO, of Maywood, MO, Anna (Donny DO) Roshan of Rolla, MO, Charles W. Andrews III of Grain Valley, MO, Abigail (John) McKernan of Chandler, AZ; as well as nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Hill; sisters-in-law, Janet Robinson of Kansas City, MO, and Karmen Hill of Kirksville, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Sammy is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Stephen E. Hill; son-in-law, Donald DeHamer; sister, Nancy Garnett; brothers, Clarence G., Jr., Laban T., Larry C., and James Porter Sagaser; sisters-in-law, Wilma, Nyra, Dorothy, and Elsie Sagaser, and Karen Hill Drews, Betty June Hill, Ima Hutton, and Irene Andrews; brothers-in-law, Terrell S. Hill, John P. Garnett, Harold L. (Pat) Andrews, and C. Robert (Bobby) Andrews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2026 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Jason Marlin officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Atlanta, MO. Family will receive friends on Monday, May 11, 2026 from noon to 1:00 p.m. service time.
