Born on December 8th, 1938, in Tipperary, Missouri, Loretta was the daughter of Russell and Mary (Eskra) Mosley. Loretta was united in marriage to the late Larry McClanahan on July 15th, 1957, in Novinger, MO. To this marriage three children were born. Ferrell McClanahan of Kirksville, Lane (Kimberly) McClanahan of Kirksville, and Lori Hatfield of Kirksville. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kari Hatfield and husband Joe Clubb of Mt Pleasant, IA; Tanner McClanahan of Kirksville; Sherri (Brent) Potter of Novinger; and Haily McClanahan of Des Moines, IA. Loretta was a graduate of Novinger High School with the class of 1957. Shortly after Loretta and Larry were married, Larry was drafted and they moved to Oklahoma, where Ferrell was born. In 1960, they moved back to Kirksville where Lane and Lori were born. Loretta was Larrys ‘right hand man’ on the family farm and even had her own tractor. When Lori started Kindergarten, Loretta decided to go back to school to get her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She accepted a teaching position at a two-room schoolhouse in Bible Grove, MO., became principle and taught at Mary Immaculate School before teaching 2nd grade at Novinger School District. Upon retiring from teaching, she was Larry’s secretary and bookkeeper for McClanahan Dozing until his death in 2018. Lorretta was a master quilter whose beautiful creations brought warmth to her entire family. She poured her heart into crafting special quilts for her children, grandchildren, and the many babies welcomed into the world along the way. But even better was her cooking! She cooked from the heart, and mostly from scratch. Lanes favorite was her homemade coconut pie! Loretta deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and making memories with those she loved most. Whether it was visiting around the dining room table, card nights, riding around the farm or sitting by a bonfire, friends and family meant the most to her.

Preceding her in death were her husband Larry D. McClanahan; Brother and sister-in-law Harry and Linda Mosley; son-in-law Richard ‘Rick’ Hatfield; nephew Jimmie Mosley.
