Thomas Wesley "Thom" Reger, 62, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away on April 12, 2026. Born on October 31, 1963, in Milan, Missouri, Thom lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his community.

Thom proudly served in the United States Army from 1983 to 1991. During his military career, he was stationed in Germany and at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His years of service reflected his commitment to protecting and serving his nation. After completing his military service, Thom continued to dedicate himself to public service through a long and distinguished career with the Missouri Department of Corrections from 1994 until his retirement in 2019. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Thom found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman who cherished time spent on the water. Bowling and playing poker were among his favorite pastimes, and he had a talent for woodworking that showcased his creativity and skill.

Thom’s family was central to his life. He is survived by his daughter Kimberley McNear; two grandchildren, Alexxander and Kyleigh; and a great-granddaughter, Audrie McNear. He also leaves behind his brother Mark Reger and sister-in-law Annette Reger; nieces and nephews Jennifer, Jessica, Jacob, Hannah, Travis, and Kendall; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Opal Reger; grandfather William Reger; father Kenneth Reger; and mother Carol Reger. Their memories remained close to Thom’s heart throughout his life.

Thom’s legacy is one of service, love for family, and a passion for the hobbies that brought him happiness. May those who knew him find comfort in their memories of him and the impact he made on their lives.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Thom's life. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 23, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Crowder Lake 76 Hwy 128 in Trenton, Missouri.
