Dorothy (King) Selby, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed from this life in her home March 2 at the age of 96. Her life was marked by unwavering love for her family, deep faith, and a generous spirit.

Born Feb 6, 1930 near Milan, Missouri, to George and Amanda (Yardley) King. One of seven children, she graduated from Kirksville High School in 1948. She married Paul Selby, of Brashear in 1947. He proceeded her in death in 1990.

Dorothy’s life was centered around her family and community. Devoted mother to five sons, she was of strong faith and an active member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. Dorothy loved to fish, follow Cardinal baseball, enjoyed a good game of cards, and cook for her family and friends. While raising her sons, Dorothy joined the workforce, first at Commerce Bank then at Northeast Missouri State University.

She is survived by: Steve (Toni) Selby, Jerry (Pat) Selby, Dan (Barb) Selby, Kevin Selby, and Bryan (Irene) Selby; her grandchildren: Cory Selby, Melissa Morley, Stephanie (Alec) Darson, Megan (McCaulley) Warren, Alec Selby, Noah (Christin) Selby, Madeline (Cory) Dawson, Monique Selby, Maria (Ryan) Zepeda, and Kevin Selby; six great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Berniece Selby, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 5 – 7pm, with Rosary at 7pm, at Travis Noe Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 6, at 10am at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery in Highland Park Cemetery.

Pall Bearers will be: Stephen Selby, Jerry Selby, Danny Selby, Kevin Selby, Bryan Selby, and Cory Selby. With Honorary Pall Bearers being Noah Selby, Alec Selby, and Kevin Selby.
