Phyllis Ann Sevits, 84, of Kirksville, MO passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO.

Phyllis was born February 20, 1942 to parents, Cloyce and Mary Lethia (Liverman) Jones, who preceded her in death.

Phyllis attended Novinger R-1 schools, graduating with the class of 1959. On June 19, 1959 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Sevits.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Bill of sixty-six years; three sons, David (Melodie) Sevits of Kirksville, Kevin (Genetta) Sevits of Kirksville, and Steven (Joy) Sevits of Nashville, TN. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren: Brian (Jessica) Sevits, Stephanie (Brett) Winder, Amanda (Jeremiah) Schultz, Morgan Sevits, Megan Newcomer, Josiah Sevits, Grace Sevits, Glory Sevits, Emma McFadden- Sevits, and Hope Sevits. She also had 14 great-grandchildren: Mason Schultz, Blake Winder, Preston Sevits, Cylas Bolin, Kyra Schultz, Brody Winder, Hiley Winder, Dawson Sevits, Keaton Schultz, Harper Winder, Nicole Newcomer, Hagen Schultz, Elliott Newcomer, and Baby Schultz on the way.

Along with being an avid homemaker, Phyllis worked at J.C. Penney as a floor clerk and as the manager of Fjeld Arms Apartments, retiring in 2009. Phyllis was a long-time member of Hazel Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where she was involved in many areas of church life. She served in the children’s department and along with Bill as the church treasurer for many years. Phyllis loved gardening, flowers, and quilting. She was a wonderful cook, and many people were blessed by her apple pies and other baked goods over the years. Most of all, Phyllis was the heart of her family. She loved spending time with them and attending all of their programs and events. Her home was always open, her kitchen was always warm, and her arms were always ready for a hug.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. service time at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. The service will be officiated by Pastor Brian Sevits, Pastor Brett Winder and Pastor Tim Hodges. Music will be provided by family and interment will follow the service at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Schultz, Brett Winder, Blake Winder, Brody Winder, Brian Sevits, Reston Sevits, Josiah Sevits, and Kevin Gregory. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Chrisman, Mike Chrisman, and Dale Crossgrove.

Memorials may be designated to Hazel Creek Free Will Baptist Youth Group and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
