Randy Eugene Cowan, 70, of Kirksville, passed away on February 11, 2026, at Northeast Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.
Randy was born on July 31, 1955, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Linda (Powell) Warrington. He spent much of his childhood on a farm with his grandparents, where he developed the steady work ethic and loyalty that would define his life. He later lived in Augusta, Kansas, but Kirksville was always his home.
Music became part of Randy’s story early on. He loved rock and roll and was a talented musician. He played bass guitar and sang lead vocals in two bands: Badge & Company in Kansas and Sunday Punch in Kirksville. He also played the trumpet, flute, and fiddle, proof that music wasn’t a hobby but part of his DNA.
On July 4, 1988, Randy married the love of his life, Vickie Love, at the Baring Hotel in Baring, Missouri. They shared 37 years of marriage filled with music, laughter, and deep devotion to their family.
Randy was the proud father of two daughters, Tessa (Cuculich) Carson and her husband Nick Carson of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Carli (Cowan) Long and her husband Lloyd Long of Kirksville. He adored his three grandchildren, Laila (12), Scotland (10), and Jude (6) Long of Kirksville, and was a proud papa.
For 35 years, Randy worked as a car salesman at Kirksville Motor Company, formerly Jim Robertson’s Chevrolet. Selling cars wasn’t just a job to him; it was part of who he was. His career was a testament to hard work and loyalty. He made a friend out of anyone he met and truly cared about people. Customers didn’t just come to buy a vehicle; they came to see Randy. Many returned year after year, not because they had to, but because they trusted him.
Randy’s laugh was unmistakable. If you ever heard it, you know it. The classic “uh hut… hut hut… uh hut hut hut.” It filled rooms, carried across the car lot, and usually followed one of his own jokes. He laughed hardest at himself, and that laugh became part of his signature.
Randy was loyal, funny, and deeply caring. Above all else, he loved his family. He showed that love through consistency, presence, and unwavering support. Whether you knew him as a husband, dad, papa, brother, friend, bandmate, or car salesman, you knew a man who showed up.
He is survived by his wife Vickie, his daughters and sons-in-law, his grandchildren, and his sister Sherry Cowan and his nephew Nash DeJesus. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Warrington, and his brother, James Dean Cowan.
Randy will be deeply missed and loved forever.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 12:00–2:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Travis Noe Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ben Jorden. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
