D. Joan (Charles) Sutton, 95 of Kirksville MO passed away Wednesday October 7, 2026 at The Pines in Kirksville, MO

Born April 29, 1931 in Kirksville, MO to Wendell & Opal (Williams) Charles On September 19, 1953 she married Bill L. Sutton, preceding her in death May 21, 2012 also preceded in death by her brother Bobby Charles

Joan graduated from Kirksville Senor High School in 1949 and attended Northeast Missouri State University now Truman State University She was employed as a medical secretary at KOH Clinic and later became the business manager for her husband's business She enjoyed this job with all the wonderful clients from many different states and became friends for life.

Joan loved to travel with Bill to Arizona every February to visit horse trainer friends She loved her children, grandchildren and great grand children very much

One of her favorite holidays was Halloween with everyone wanting to come to her house She was an excellent cook and enjoyed attending Kirksville Moose Lodge soup luncheons with her best friend Jon Ann Ladwig KTUF was turned on every day

Joan is survived by three daughters Gwen (Kim) Galloway of Ballwin MO, Gale (Steve) Frazier Kirksville MO, Geri (David) Higgins Kirksville MO Three grandchildren Holly (Gerardo) Villacres Ballwin MO, Cassie (Lance) Kauffman Hallsville MO, and Joe Galloway Ballwin MO three great grandchildren Christopher Galloway Ballwin MO, Hadley Kauffman and Collin Kauffman of Hallsville MO

Brother Billy D (Connie) Charles Kirksville MO and sister in law Elma Jean Charles Kirksville MO and a nephew and several nieces

Joan's wishes were to be cremated with a Celebration of Life at the Kirksville Moose Lodge from 2 to 4 p.m. October 12, 2026.
