Herbert Charles Leasman, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Kirksville Manor Care Center, under the care of Hospice.

Born July 1, 1938 in Berkeley, California, Herbert was the son of Richard Clark and Ethel Arline (Cohee) Leasman. On December 18, 1965 in LaPlata, Missouri, Herbert was united in marriage to Lucy Ollie (Bozarth) Dalton who preceded him in death on June 24, 2024. He was also preceded in death by two step-daughters, Linda Clay Burton on September 23, 2012, and Sharon McPherson Tarlton on May 22, 2013.

Herbert is survived by three step-daughters, Sueanna (Larry) Hannah of Kirksville, MO, Brenda Smith of Cortland, OH, and Joyce Cawthorn of Jackson, MO; one aunt, Betty Meader of Mitchellville, IA; eight grandchildren, Dustin (Cynthia) Hannah, Athena Melnicki, Jeremy (Kimberly) Clay, James (Amy) Smith, Robert (Melissa) Cawthorn, Ryan Cawthorn, Brandon (Syrina) McPherson, and Kyle McPherson; as well as eleven great grandchildren.

Herbert was a graduate from Mitchellville High School in Mitchellville, Iowa with the Class of 1955. Herbert then served one year in the United States Navy and from 1955 to 1977 he served in the United States Air Force retiring on August 31, 1977 after twenty plus years.

Herbert was a life long wood worker and furniture restorer, and after retiring from the military he worked as a maintenance planner for Truman State University and last worked in housekeeping for Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Public visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Virgil Jones officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
