A lifelong resident of Adair County, Ivan graduated from Novinger High School with the Class of 1951 before proudly serving four years in the United States Navy. He then returned home to Northeast Missouri, working briefly in the coal mines before beginning his farming life. Ivan and Marilyn raised their sons on their farm at Pure Air. He enjoyed life in rural Missouri, especially quail hunting, and did not intend to miss listening to or watching Cardinals baseball. He was a beacon of honesty, dependability, love, support, patience, and kindness, instilling these same values in his family through his example. Above all else, his greatest legacy is a family rooted in their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Ivan was a faithful and active member of Pure Air Baptist Church, where he served as trustee and deacon.
