Duane Lee Chrisman, 88, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Thursday June 12, 2025 surrounded by family.

The son of Walter Lee and Mona (Stafford) Chrisman, he was born on December 9, 1936, in Putnam County, Missouri. Duane was united in marriage to Jeanetta Mae VanLaningham on May 31, 1956, in Kirksville, Missouri.

Duane is survived by his wife Jeanetta of 69 years; five daughters Nita Jeffries, Martha Chrisman, Janie (Dick) Weber, Glenda Newell, and Lyn (Danny) Phillips, all of Kirksville, MO; four brothers Aaron (Jackie) Chrisman, Bradley (Betty) Chrisman, Roger Chrisman, and Michael (Arlene) Chrisman; two sisters Grace Starbuck and Christine (Eddie) Pierce; eight grandchildren Christy (Sheldon) Scadden, Russell Jeffries, Kim Wood, Kimberly (Greg) Nieters, Loren Wright, Weston Newell, Zak Howard, Haley Phillips, and Kiley Phillips; and thirteen great grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, one sister Sharon Boecker, and several in- laws, nieces and nephews.

Duane received his education in Novinger. He was a minister for over 25 years of the Baptist faith. Many of these years were served at the Connelsville Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Duane ran the Hungry Hollow Bait shop near Hazel Creek Lake for many years. He also enjoyed collecting old cars and other treasures…everything was a treasure to him. Duane enjoyed and loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He and his brothers grew up playing instruments of all kinds, the fiddle being his favorite. He always had a story to tell and a song to sing.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. at Travis Noe Funeral home Tuesday, June 17, 2025 with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by David VanLaningham and reading by Pastor Virgil Jones. Interment will follow the service at Hazel Creek Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Russell Jeffries, Loren Wright, Xander Wright, Weston Newell, Zak Howard, and Kyler Scadden.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Duane may be made to the Hazel Creek Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
