Luther Laverne May, 87, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at his home.

The son of Victor David and Blanche Viola (Roberts) May, he was born July 5, 1937 in Novinger, Missouri. In 1960 Luther was united in marriage to Daisy Ruggles.

Luther is survived by his wife Daisy of sixty-four years; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Callie May of Kirksville, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Carl Bonsignore of Kansas City, MO, and Lisa and Bob Brown of Howard City, MI; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn and Dave Nolen of west Frankford, IL, and Josephine Billington of Kirksville, MO; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Wesley May; and one sister, Mildred Lucas.

Luther was a life long resident of Adair County and was a graduate from Novinger R-I High School. He served in the United States National Guard. Luther was employed a number of years for Florsheim Shoe Factory until the closing of the plant. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, reloading gun shells and going to flea markets.

Luther was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Kirksville.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025 with family receiving friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Aaron Rodgerson will officiate the service and interment will follow the service at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri.
