Hope Winnifred (Johnson) Small, 93, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 at The Pines.

Born September 14, 1931 in Passaic, Missouri, Hope was the daughter of James Isaac and Sylvia (Jackson) Johnson. In 1949, in Granger, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Stanley C. Small. To this union four children were born.

Hope was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Michele Mitchell; grandson, Gabriel Small; son-in-law, Jerry Carroll; seven sisters, Evelyn Schnelle, Jackie Knotts, Alpha Glaze, Marion Abernathy, Dixie Green, Flo Etherton and Mary Joy Zuber; two half-siblings, Fathe Johnson, and Ruth Ward.

Hope is survived by one son, Michael Small of Memphis, MO; two daughters, Melody Carroll and Molly (Lewie) Bogener of Kirksville, MO; one brother, Jimmy Johnson of Gladstone, MO; and seven grandchildren, Carna Jackson, Aaron Small, Lala Mahoney, Lanna Carroll, Josh Small, Letty Meade, and Michele Hope Mitchell; as well as many great-grandchildren.

Hope was a graduate from Granger High School. Hope and Stanley owned a farm near Wyaconda and operated a pool hall in Wyaconda, Missouri. They later moved to Kahoka, Missouri, where she worked as an American Family Insurance agent; operated the Driver's License Bureau in Kahoka for several years. She eventually moved to Kirksville and worked at Walmart for twenty-five years until her retirement.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, MO. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to graveside service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Michael Small, Aaron Small, Josh Small, and Trent Young.
