Scott Edward Clark, 64, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 under the care of Hospice Compassus and with family by his side.

The son of the late Horace Leon and Sharon Kay (Hoge) Clark he was born December 25, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Bud Clark; his granddaughter, Scotland Clark; and his great uncle, Ernie Williams. On September 13, 1980 in Kirksville, Missouri, Scott was united in marriage to Sonya Montgomery.

Scott is survived by his wife Sonya of forty-four years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Danielle Clark of Warrensburg, MO, and Craig and Amanda Clark of Kirksville, MO; one daughter, Karissa Clark of Kirksville, MO; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shari and Todd Kline of Goodman, MO, and Shelly and Eddie Haer of Bellevue, NE; four grandchildren, Atiana Clark, Sullivan Clark, Paislee Clark, and Hogan Clark; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Scott was a graduate from Adair County R-II High School in Brashear, MO and attended three years at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville. For nearly forty years he worked as a computer programmer for Mark Twain Rural Telephone Company until his retirement.

Scott enjoyed arrowhead hunting, deer hunting, and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a founding member of the Kansas City Chiefs Message Board, a board member of Highland Park Cemetery, a member of the Communication Workers of America, Local 6311, where he served as Secretary/Treasurer, and was a board member of Faith Lutheran Church of Kirksville.

Starting a family at a young age, Scott took responsibility for raising a loving and Christ-following family, which was his greatest accomplishment. Even though he faced serious illness, Scott maintained a positive outlook over the last few years, and continued to put his family first despite his own health challenges. His wife and children were his number one priority. As his family grew, he was blessed with two daughters-in-law. When his 5 grandchildren came along, they quickly stole his heart and became his pride and joy. Scott was often found playing wiffle ball and “rag tag” with the grandkids anytime they would visit. He also helped the grandkids learn to drive by letting them drive him to Troy Mills for a can of chew. They may or may not have been old enough to drive. Scott’s witty humor always kept those around him on their toes and laughing.

As an example of Scott’s unwavering faith in Christ, here is an excerpt from his journal: “I’ve been given a chance to live a little longer, to be thankful and appreciate the beauty in God’s World. I try to thank Him every morning and every night for the blessings around me. Most of all, His Son Jesus Christ, who saves us all through grace! God is great! Amen.”

Public visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. service time at Faith Lutheran Church in Kirksville, with Pastor Elden Kohn officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Haer, Curt Platz, Joey Magruder, Josh Hettinger, Todd Hill, and Mike Gelbach. Honorary pallbearers will be Sullivan Clark, Hogan Clark, Mike Herleth, Jason Moots, Jason McKim, Rick Hale and the late Paul McCarty.

Memorial donations in memory of Scott may be made to the ALS Association and may be left at the church, funeral home, or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
