Frances Marion Orek, age 100, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away peacefully in Hospice care on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Kirksville Manor Care.

The daughter of Tony and Mary Landsborough Orek, she was born May 23, 1924 in Novinger, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother John A. Orek and one sister Mae Scott Smith. She was also preceded in death by one nephew, John E. Orek and two nieces, Charlotte Orek Voepel and Mary Northcraft whom she was very close. She is survived by five great nephews, Tony Orek of Houston, TX, Mark Orek of Lone Jack, MO, Gary Northcraft of Gulf Shores, AL, Scott Northcraft of Franklington, NC, and Bradley Voepel of Quincy, IL; one great niece, Sherri Voepel Hill of Overland Park, KS; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.

Frances was a life-long resident of Novinger. After graduating from Novinger High School, she worked at Novinger Telephone Company, Farmers Exchange, then spent the remainder of her career working for Baiotto & Gasperi, Inc. where she retired. She was also involved in her family business, Orek Coal Mine.

Ms. Orek had many dear and loyal friends over the years. Although she outlived many of her friends, she continued to make new ones. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who crossed her path and you couldn’t help but love and adore her.
