Bertha "Joyce" (Erwin) McVay, 75, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025 at her home under Hospice Compassus care.

Joyce was born February 27, 1950 the daughter of the late Virgil Lyle and Helen Ilene (Spurgean) Erwin. On September 14, 1968, Joyce was united in marriage to Gerald Ray McVay who preceded her in death on July 7, 2025. She was also preceded in death by one son, Andrew Scott McVay; and two brothers, David Erwin and Leroy Erwin.

Joyce is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Amanda McVay of Kirksville, MO; three brothers, Larry Erwin and Don (Brenda) Erwin all of Kirksville, MO, and Bob Erwin of the State of CO; one sister, Sharon Fehr of Kirksville, MO; sisters-in-law, Barb Erwin and Kathy Erwin both of Brashear, MO; eight grandchildren, Ivan McVay, Dalton McVay, and Drew McVay (Kenley Burns) all of Kirksville, MO, Logan McVay of Columbia, MO, and Carter McVay, Donovan McVay, Chloe McVay, and Ruby McVay all of Kirksville, MO; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Joyce attended Hazel Green School and was a graduate from Brashear High School with the Class of 1967. After many years working in the business office at Truman State University she retired in 2006. After retiring her time was spent babysitting for several families. Those children were very loved and cared for as if they were her own grandchildren. Joyce also enjoyed several "girl trips" with her cousins Kay and Marsha. She also loved her siblings day trips with Sharon, Barb, and Kathy.

Joyce enjoyed her hobbies including sewing, reading, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for being firm in her beliefs.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Doug Athon presiding. Interment will follow the service at Sabbath Home Cemetery in Brashear, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Ivan McVay, Dalton McVay, Drew McVay, Logan McVay, Carter McVay, and Donovan McVay.
