MacKenzie Rae (Smith) Parsons, 47, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025 at her home under Hospice care and with family by her side.

MacKenzie was born July 7, 1978 in Bloomfield, Iowa the daughter of Michael and Shirley (Prevo) Smith. On June 23, 2001 in Bloomfield, Iowa, MacKenzie was united in marriage to Brad Andrew Parsons.

MacKenzie was a graduate from Davis County High School with the Class of 1996 and attended Indian Hills Community College where she played volleyball and also attended Moberly Area Community College.

MacKenzie and her family resided in Boonville, Missouri before moving to Kirksville fourteen years ago to make their home. At the time of her death MacKenzie was employed as the Administrative Assistant at William Mathew Middle School.

MacKenzie enjoyed going to the lake at Thousand Hills State Park and going to the ocean in the Spring.

She was very devoted to her family and loved spending time attending her children's sporting events or time on the boat at the lake.

MacKenzie is survived by her husband, Brad of the home; her children, Brody Parsons and River Parsons both of Kirksville, MO; her mother, Shirley Smith of Bloomfield, IA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John David and Sherry Parsons of Novelty, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Lindsay Smith of Bloomfield, IA; sister and brother-in-law, Charity and Travis Gooden of Bloomfield, IA; brother-in-law, Wesley Parsons of Novelty, MO; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Smith and one brother, Fredrick Smith.

Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations in memory of MacKenzie may be made to the George Rae Cancer Treatment Center or to Hospice of Northeast Missouri and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
