Thresa Lee (Kittle) Burrus, 77, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at her home under Hospice care.

Born October 11, 1946 in Kirksville, Missouri, Thresa was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Lora Faye (Williams) Kittle. On June 6, 1965 Thresa was united in marriage to Robert Bowen and to this union three sons were born. On April 15, 1995 she married C.D. "Dave" Burrus who preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jason Lee Bowen, her parents, grandparents, several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Thresa is survived by two sons Shannon Bowen and Dustin Bowen and wife Heather all of Queen City, MO; one granddaughter, Chyanne Bowen and fiancée Craig Bright of Buffalo, MO; one brother and sister-in-law David and Judy Kittle of Novinger, MO; one nephew, Michael (Penny) Kittle of Novinger, MO; one great niece Kayya Johnson and husband Tyler; three great nephews, Dakota (Maria) Kittle, Jamie Kittle and partner Josh Faulkner, and Bryce Kittle; two great nieces Emma and Madison Johnson as well as several cousins.

Thresa was a graduate from Novinger R-I High School with the Class of 1964 and attended Truman State University. She was a farm wife for years and worked as a secretary for Bradley Insurance Company in Memphis, MO for ten years. Thresa worked several years as a cook for Kirksville Day Care. She last owned and operated her housekeeping business for the past fifteen years.

Thresa loved animals especially cats and mules and always loved trail riding in south Missouri with her family. She loved to cook, especially family dinners and also enjoyed sewing, making many gifts out of repurposed denim.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at Greentop Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Broach officiating.

Memorial donations in memory of Thresa may be made to Greentop Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
