Mary Ann Wriedt, 89, of Kirksville, MO, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at her home in Kirksville.

The daughter of George and Juanita (Crutchlow) Maupin; she was born in Hannibal, MO, on November 22, 1934. Mary was united in marriage to Melvin Wriedt Sr. on December 23, 1950; who preceded her in death on January 10, 1994. They were married 45 years.

Mary is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, William (Bill) Maupin, sons Melvin Wriedt Jr. and David Wriedt (in infancy).

She is survived by her sister and brothers, Gerry (Virgil) Lehenbaur, Robert (Bob) Maupin, and Michael (Mike) Maupin. Children Vicki (John) Martinez, George (Carolyn) Wriedt, Tanya (Neil) Dow, and Jackie Wriedt. Grandchildren Jessica (Aaron) Williams, Cybil Wriedt, Chelsea (Micah) Leipard, Stephnie (Shuri) Stonecipher, Michael (Brandi) Wriedt, Jennifer (Nathen) See, Casey Wriedt, Leah (Skip) Christiansen, Hayley (Justin) Hartgrave, Cameron (Amber) Dow, Bethany (Zach) Vandevender, Colton (Dannah) Orendorff. She also had many great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.

Mary was a homemaker and later worked various jobs in retail, real estate, cleaning and most recently at Sieren’s Palace where she retired. She was a member of Women of the Moose , of El Kadir Shrine Club Jewels and Eastern Star.

Mary loved reading, puzzles, sudoku, family time, and cooking for her family.

It was Mary’s wish to be cremated and no service is to be held. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Thousand Hills State Park.

Memorial donations in memory of Mary may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association, and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home at PO Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
