Cecelia Ann (Alberts) McLaughlin, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri. passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, Missouri.
Born February 20, 1941 in Keokuk, Iowa, Cecelia was the daughter of the late Edward Francis and Frances Ann (Kimbrough) Alberts. On August 11, 1962 in Keokuk, Iowa, Cecelia was united in marriage to James Edward McLaughlin.
Cecelia is survived by her husband James of sixty-one years; four daughters, Lisa Reid and husband Steve of Trenton, MO, Debra McLaughlin (Matt Osborn), Catherine Sherrow (James Jones) and Amy Forquer (Joe Shoop) all of Kirksville, MO; twelve grandchildren, Nicole Jelmberg-Brayton, Christina Jelmberg, Stacy Craig, Jonathan Craig, Christopher Craig, Melissa Craig, Kaitlyn McLauglin, Joshua Wilson, Hannah McLaughlin, Casie Wiggins, Matthew Forquer, and James Howard McLaughlin; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Oren McLaughlin, one daughter, Martha (Marti) Lynn Jelmberg; one brother, Edward Alberts; and one sister Doris Burchett.
Cecelia was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, Illinois with the Class of 1959 and later received a associate degree in nursing at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA. Cecelia worked a number of years as a registered nurse at Laughlin Hospital, Grim-Smith Hospital, KOH Hospital, Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, and for the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and playing Farkle, but most of all Cecelia loved time spent with her family and grandchildren.
Cecelia was as member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Alan Coonfield officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from noon to 2:00 p.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Forquer, James H. McLaughlin, Joshua Wilson, Jonathan Craig, Christopher Craig, and Matt Venner. David Erwin will be an honorary pallbearers.
Memorial donations in memory of Cecelia may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
