Hollie Joe Ray, 59, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Hollie was born October 15, 1962 in Kirksville, Missouri, to Emmett and Edith (Dorman) Ray. He was united in marriage on November 17, 1980 in Kirksville to Carol Atkin, who survives.

He enjoyed fishing, playing with grandkids, going on road trips and being outside. He loved his motorcycle and riding with his dog, Dixie.

He is also survived by two step-sons, Eric and Justin Connelison of Kirksville; two step-daughters, Bridget Hatter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Ashley Downer of Kirksville; two brothers, Emmett Ray Jr. of Quincy, Illinois, and Buster Ray of Quincy, Illinois; one sister, Mickie Rice of Quincy, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Hollie was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Joyce, Cathy, Connie, and Flora.

It was his wish to be cremated with a celebration of life held at a later date.
