Jonathan Edward Pierce, 57 of Kirksville, MO went to walk with his Savior on the streets of gold on Saturday, December 21, 2024 after battling glioblastoma for almost 2 years.
The son of Ed and Christine (Chrisman) Pierce, Jonathan was born on April 19, 1967 in Kirksville, Mo. Jonathan attended Adair Co. R-1 at Novinger until 7th grade, then attended Kirksville Bible School until 1985 when he graduated. While attending KBS he met the love of his life Denice (Dodsworth). They married in June of 1987. He was blessed with two children later in life, Shannyn Christine and Jonathan Colton. His children were miracles he thought would never happen.
After graduation, Jonathan worked on road construction for a short time. He also worked for Banquet Foods and at Thousand Hills Dining Lodge doing just about everything. He was a real jack of all trades. He also worked for Lambert Overhead Doors. In 1994, he started at Crescent Electric Supply Company where he worked diligently for 29 years.
Jonathan attended Kirksville Church of God Holiness with his family. He was a long time member. He served as a deacon for a few years before being diagnosed. His faith in and commitment to Jesus was renewed throughout his illness.
Jonathan loved the outdoors and taught his children to love it as well. When he could, he was fishing, camping, hunting, or working outdoors. He loved to mushroom hunt and instilled that love to his children. He also loved deer hunting. He even taught Denice how to deer hunt. He worked tirelessly to keep the farm going. If he wasn’t cutting wood, he was baling hay or working on his ancient equipment. He could fix just about anything. As the disease progressed his love for God became stronger and more steadfast. When he was no longer able to work, he would go out each morning to watch the sunrise and pray for his family and friends. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Denice, their two children Shannyn and Colton both of the home, his parents Ed and Christine Pierce, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerry and Dorothy Dodsworth, his siblings Tamara Tague (Larry), Beth Bender (Jeff), Brenda Lippert (Jon), and Jeremy Pierce (Gina), two brothers-in-law Curtis and Mike Dodsworth, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews and one very special dog (Jenny). Preceding him in death are his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5-7pm at the Church of God Holiness in Kirksville. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Church of God Holiness. Burial will follow the service at Hazel Creek Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville.
Memorials may be made to the Church of God Holiness or to the family to help with final expenses, and may be left at the church, funeral home, or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
