Jimmy Leroy Overstreet, 92, of Kirksville, passed away on October 15, 2023 in Moberly, Missouri. Jimmy was born to Sylvia (Thudium) and Harry Overstreet on October 31, 1930 near New Boston, Missouri. He graduated from Kirksville Highschool in 1948. From 1951 to 1953 he served in Korea with the U.S. Army, 7th Infantry Division – Signal Corp.

After his discharge from the U.S. Army, he and Mary Jane Shanight were married on March 23, 1953 in Brookfield, Missouri. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jane; two children, David (Linda) Overstreet of Moberly and Karen (Mark) Kachadurian of Commerce Township, Michigan; four grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Colvin of Fayette, Missouri, Chase, Harry and Cole (Sara) Kachadurian of Michigan; two great grandchildren, Mikel and Oliva Colvin of Fayette; and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Roland Lindberg; mother-in-law, Peg and father-in-law, Willis; his brother, Lloyd; and his sister, Juanita.

He worked from the 50’s through the 70’s selling auto parts. In 1972, he started at Hollister’s Inc. and retired in 1998. When not working his passion, he was riding horses and playing guitar.

He was cremated under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri, with full military honors, at a later date.
