Gail Michael "Mike" Newman, 71, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the University of Missouri Health & Clinics in Columbia, Missouri.

Born March 2, 1951 in Wooster, Ohio Mike was the son of the late Thomas and Joyce (Lance) Newman. On December 27, 1969 in LaPlata, Missouri, Mike was united in marriage to Duretta Graham.

Mike is survived by his wife Duretta of fifty-two years; one son Jason (Willow) Newman of Kirksville, MO; two daughters, Jennifer (Troy) Treasure of Kirksville, MO, and Jessica (James) Outen of Ellsworth, S.D.; two brothers, Rick and Bobby Newman both of Ohio; four sisters, Judy (Roger) Briggs, Ruby (Randy) Beasley, Barb Shanley, and Sue (Tom) Nelson all of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Kalean, Owen, Tyler, James, Erica, Conner, and Sophia; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jared Michael Newman on April 1, 2021, and two brothers, Tom Newman and one in infancy.

Mike served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and was a qualified sharpshooter. After being honorably discharged Mike returned home and was employed for Southwestern Bell (AT&T) until retirement. After retiring, Mike enjoyed working the past five years for Winkler Communications.

Mike was an avid bowler and member of USBC for a number of years and was a member of the Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed playing pool and was a member of two pool leagues, APA & Tap, enjoyed fishing, and was a member of the First united Methodist Church of Kirksville.

Mike will be remembered for his devotion and love for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Graveside services with military honors will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
