Irma Maxine (Bray) Canny, 91, of Kirksville, MO, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at The Pines Adult Care Facility in Kirksville. Born February 14, 1930, in Veo, IA, Irma was the daughter of Walter Lea Bray and Etha Mae Statler. On February 5, 1955, Irma was united in marriage to John Lester Canny, who preceded her in death on October 8, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Dorothy Chiles, one brother, Donald Bray, and one daughter, Janice Canny.
Irma is survived by one sister, Hazel Gomez, of Sunnyvale, CA, two daughters, Diana Swanson (Bob) of Ottumwa, IA, and Denise Bahr (Thom) of Kirksville, MO, five grandchildren: Caroline, Michael, Matthew, Sarah, and Jordan, and four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Irma was a 1947 graduate of Pleasant Plain High School in Iowa, and a graduate of Iowa Success Business School. She will be remembered as a loving housewife and caring babysitter for many children in her home. She enjoyed reading, cooking, watching TV, and spending time with her family and pets. Irma spent her final few years under the loving care of The Pines Adult Care Facility, where she made many friends with the staff.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Ottumwa Cemetery in Ottumwa, IA, under the care of Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the form of donations may be made to the Adair County Humane Society, 22376 State Highway 6, Kirksville, MO 63501, or may be sent to the Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O.
