Penny Louise Murphy was welcomed into her spiritual home at the young age of 55 on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Born on September 20, 1964 in Morris, Illinois to Jerry E Murphy and Janet S McClure, Penny grew up in Morris and called several places home including, Evansville, IN, New Jersey, and most recently, Kirksville, MO. Unable to work for many years, Penny was an activist in her community as often as her medical conditions allowed.

Penny was the rock for much of her family, especially for her sister, nieces, and nephews. Leaving this world unexpectedly, her love, light, and memories will live on. Penny strived to make a difference by promoting love, equality, and acceptance. Penny loved all people and creatures of the Earth, and had many friends, especially in her home design and gaming online groups. She was an inspiration to all who met her.

Penny is survived by her father, Jerry (Janet) Murphy of Kirksville, MO; sister Robin of Kirksville, MO; brother David (Heather) Murphy of Dallas, TX; nieces Kelly (Jeff Niccum) George of Kirksville, MO and Carey (Russell) Holland of Sturgeon, MO; nephews Christian, Colton, Isaac, Nathan, Garrett, Samien, Logan, Seth, Lazarus, and Matthew; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet, and nephew, Brett George.

Penny’s Celebration of Life will be held virtually in the coming weeks. Information will be shared when available. Penny may be remembered with donations in her honor to the Solve ME/CFS Initiative.
