Rose Marie (Harmon) Sharp passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at St. Mary’s hospital, Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born in Hayes County, Nebraska, on March 28, 1928. On April 9, 1947 she married Bernice Sharp. To this marriage one son, Larry Dee was born on March 10, 1949.

In 1930 Rose Marie’s family moved to Putnam County near Sidney, Missouri. She attended the Hustead Elementary School and graduated from Unionville High School in 1946. She attended college in Kirksville, MO, and taught at the same elementary school she had attended.

Rose Marie worked as bookkeeper at Mitchell Dairy and the service department at Montgomery Ward. She was employed 10 years at McGraw Edison Electric and was a clerk at the Kirksville Department Store. While Larry was in the army she worked at Sad Sams and Gibsons. She said she worked to keep her mind off of him being in the service. She worked at the KIRX and KRXL Radio Station from 1968 until 1981.

Rose Marie was a member of the First Christian Church of Kirksville. Along with her husband, she was saved and baptized in April of 1994.
She belonged to the National Auxiliary of the American Postal Workers Union where she helped organize the Auxiliary for the Kirksville Local. There she served as Vice President for two years and President for eight.

She belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employees where she served as Public Affairs Officer and Sunshine Lady. Before she moved to Jefferson City, she was a member of, and enjoyed fellowship with, the Red Hat Ramblers.

Rose Marie is preceded in death by her husband Bernice and her parents Henry and Pauline Harmon. Also preceding her were two brothers, Henry Dennis Harmon and, killed in the service in 1945, was Johnnie Clifford Harmon and one sister, Marjorie Lorene Lowry of Fresno, California.

Surviving are her son Larry Dee Sharp and wife Marilyn of Jefferson City, Missouri, three grandchildren, Ryan and wife Elisha of Port Charlotte, Florida, Scott and wife Ashley of Jefferson City, Missouri, Lori and husband Christopher of Camdenton, Missouri, Four great grandson’s Chase, Kass, Brett and Blayke Elliott, two great granddaughters, Camryn and Kylee Sharp and one great, great granddaughter, Presley Elliott. She is survived by one sister, Vondalea Ringer of Macon, Mo., six nephews and one niece.

Rose Marie was a wonderful, loving example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always the first one to help out a friend or family!

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30, Friday, May 24th with the funeral service at 1:30 at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kirksville, Missouri.
