Leola Faye (Stidmon) Daniels, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
Born June 1, 1935, in Stahl, Missouri, Leola was the daughter of the late Guy Wilkins and Ethel Mildred (Johnson) Stidmon. On September 2, 1959 in Stahl, Missouri, Leola was united in marriage to Bobby Lee Daniels.
Leola is survived by her husband Bobby of fifty-nine years; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ramah and Francis McCabe of Hammond, IN, Mary Ann and Leon Harbur of Kirksville, MO, Glenda Swanson of Kirksville, MO, and Guyla Stidmon of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law, Linda Daniels of Loganville, GA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Wanda York and her husband Bill, and brother-in-law, Bob Swanson.
Leola was a graduate from Novinger High School and received her Bachelor and Master's degree in Elementary Education at Kirksville State Teacher's College. She retired after having taught thirty-six years in various capacities. After retiring she and Bob returned home and Leola devoted her time to her family and community.
Leola became a member of Quota International of Kirksville in April, 1998 where she served as Attendance Chair, was Secretary, co-chair of Ways and Means, served on Community Service and Disadvantaged Women & Children, chaired Membership/Social while serving as Vice-President, co-chaired the Joint Prayer Breakfast Committee for several years, and was last Club President. She was also a very active member of Women of the Moose and El Kadir Jewels holding several offices, Kirksville Arts Association, Adair County Historical Society, Sojourners Club and Novinger Alumni Association, and Alpha Sigma Alpha. In her spare time Leola served several offices in the Missouri Retried Teachers Association and taught student teachers at Purdue Calumet Campus a number of years in Schererville, Indiana. In December of this year, Leola would have been a fifty year member of Detla Kappa Gamma Teacher's Society where she served every office at the local and state levels of Missouri. Leola was a member of The Primitive Baptist Church of Greentop.
Leola's had a great love of children, loved to travel, and will be remembered for being an excellent cook who enjoyed making Christmas cookies and candy.
Public visitation will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Elder Dillon Thurman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger.
