Dimple Marie (Crout) Locket, 90, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Kirksville Manor Care in Kirksville.

The daughter of Everett and Isabel (Slaughter) Crout, she was born April 21, 1928 in South Gifford, Missouri. Dimple was united in marriage on March 4, 1950 in Kirksville to James Herschel Lockett, who presided her in death on December 26, 2006.

She was also preceded by her parents and one sister, Dasie Ratliff.

Dimple's mother died shortly after she was born. She and her sister were raised by their paternal grandmother and grandmother's bachelor brother - "Ma" and "Dave". They were very poor, but Dimple has wonderful memories of their childhood on the farm.

She worked at a little grocery store in Gifford when first married, then worked for Bob Love at the Adair County Courthouse Tax Collector's office. Dimple also helped on the farm and fed all the farm hands when she would get home from work.

She always had a great love and connection with animals from the pets they had on the farm as a child to her last beloved dogs, Doc and Shorty, that were her children. Dimple played the piano, Herschel played the fiddle. They loved to get together with friends to jam and also loved to play at the pubs in Yarrow and Gifford. She took great pride in her garden and loved working in it. She was known for her strawberries.

Dimple has been cremated and a public visitation will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe funeral Home.
