Charlotte (Hays) Acton, 92, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Charles and Clara (Wallace) Hays, Charlotte was born November 22, 1924 in Yarrow, Missouri. In 1946 in Kirksville, Missouri, Charlotte was united in marriage to Buell Vance Acton who preceded her in death on September 11, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son Michael Acton, and two brothers, Winston and Hamilton Hays.

Charlotte is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Galen and Terri Acton of Columbia, MO, Steven Acton of Roseville, CA, and Rick Acton of Buckeye, AZ; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charlotte was a lifelong resident of Adair County and was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1941. She was employed several years for McGraw Edison until going to work for Kirksville Manor Care.

Throughout the years Charlotte was active at bowling, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and billiards. In the 1980's & 90's Charlotte was involved in the Senior Olympic Games receiving numerous medals. Charlotte was a long time Cardinal Baseball fan and served on the Yarrow Cemetery Board a number of years.

It was Charlotte's wish to be cremated and a memorial graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Yarrow Cemetery under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
