Charles Edward Landtiser of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Kirksville Manor Care Center. Charles was born on February 17, 1925, in Livonia, Missouri to Leonard Lawrence Landtiser and Mable Opal Johnson Landtiser.
After high school in Livonia, Charles hauled coal and rock with his father for several years. Charles also received certification in Linotype training at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He worked for the Moore Business Forms subsidiary in Kahoka, Missouri until that business was destroyed by fire. He continued his career as a Linotype operator at the Lancaster Excelsior in Lancaster, Missouri, the Kirksville Daily Express, and the Simpson Printing Company, both in Kirksville. Charles enjoyed using his printing expertise until the use of the Linotype became obsolete. He then became a member of the maintenance crew of what is now Truman State University until his retirement.
Charles was honored to be on the Medill, MO school board as he valued education. He was a member of the board for the Nutrition site at Village 76 in Kirksville for several years. He also loved spring time and mushroom hunting when he was able and watching baseball games, especially the Royals and Cardinals.
Charles made a profession of faith in Christ as an eight year old. During the later years of his life, his faith became more pronounced and important. That faith and the strength of the family bond grew more precious with the passing years.
Charles married Joy McClellan on September 10, 1943. Joy preceded him in death in March of 2017 after 73 years of marriage. Daughters Jeda Kerby, Jean (Tony) Beeler, and Patricia (Lyle) York were born to this marriage and survive.
