Edna "Lucille" (Young) Clay

On May 15, 2017, Edna "Lucille" (Young) Clay, 92, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Her health had deteriorated the last few months.
Edna "Lucille" Clay was born on August 31, 1924 the daughter of Raymond and Cordelia "Pearl" (Bachman) Young in Stahl, Missouri. On January 11, 1940, she married Henry "Eldon" Clay who preceded her in death in 2005 after 65 years of marriage.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, one son, Larry E. Clay and a brother, Glenn Young.
Lucille is survived by her children, two daughters, Shirley Barnes of Kirksville, MO and Imogene Becker of Newark, MO; three sons, Jerry Clay of Adair, MO, Mike Clay of Kirksville, MO, and Terry Clay of Kirksville, MO; and a daughter-in-law, Jinnie Clay of LaPlata, MO. She had a large family with 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren surviving, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lucille grew up around the Sydney and Shibley's Point, Missouri areas. She loved cooking for her large family, working in the garden, painting, quilt blocks and making them into quilts. She liked to go for drives with Eldon just to see where they could end up. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Clay's Table Co from 1974 to 2005. They enjoyed meeting the medical students that would come out to order and pickup their treatment tables. The both loved giving the foreign students a tour of their farm to show them the exotic animals.
Public visitation will be held Friday May 19, 2017 with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Pastor Virgil Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service at Morelock Cemetery north of Green Castle, MO.
Pallbearers will be Ron Prather, Cory Prather, Mark Thompson, Tony Thompson, David Moore and Adam Moore. Her grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
