Ernest Adolf Diekmann Jr., 54, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Ernest was born September 7, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Ernest Adolf and Konnie Kaye (Simerson) Diekmann Sr. On October 3, 1980 in Kirksville, Missouri, Ernest was united in marriage to Connie Allen.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Connie of the home; his mother, Konnie Diekmann of Queen City, MO; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Chantal Diekmann of Ottumwa, IA, and Cody and Leah Diekmann of Green City, MO; four sisters, Paula Mikels of Lemons, MO, Arlene Devolt of Washington, IA, Kaye Diekmann of Queen City, MO, and Martha West of Kirksville, MO; one grandson, Bryor Diekmann, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Adolf Diekmann Sr.

Since 1976, Ernest resided in Adair and Sullivan counties and received his education at the Adair County R-I Novinger School. He served in the National Guard. At the time of his death, Ernest was employed for Farmland Foods in Milan.

Ernest enjoyed fishing, collecting cans, sports, wrestling, and was a Cubs fan.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Scott McNay will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, MO.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Athon, DC Mikels, Blake Seaton, John Tennil, Jaxon Jacobs, and Christian Hansen.
