Born July 30, 1925 in Novinger, Missouri, Mabel was the daughter of the late George Washington and Winona Margaret (Capps) Mabis. On October 8, 1945 in Novinger, Missouri, Mabel was united in marriage to Roy Moots who preceded her in death in 1991 after forty-six years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Felkel, Martha Mabis, and Margaret Miller.
Mabel is survived by her children, Francis (Ruth Ann) Moots of Brashear, MO, George (Jean) Moots of Hurdland, MO, Ronald (Angie) Moots of Joplin, MO, and Roger (Angela) Moots of Urbandale, IA; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Mabel worked at Bank Midwest for thirty years as a teller, she enjoyed visiting with all of her customers throughout the years. Her passion was living on the farm, gardening, growing flowers and tending to the cattle. She loved driving her tractor, mowing the lawn and greatly enjoyed all the activities of farm living. She was a great pie maker and skilled at knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching. Mabel was also very fond of cats and dogs. In her later years, Mabel enjoyed her retirement by traveling to 49 states with "Show Me Tours". During her time attending tours she met many close friends. Mabel loved to travel whether close to home or miles away on a tour.
The greatest love of Mabel's life was spending time with her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished holiday get togethers, attending the NEMO District Fair where she enjoyed her favorite snacks of Texas potatoes and funnel cakes. She also enjoyed the country music shows at the fair as well.
Mabel was kind, compassionate and loving toward all and was interested in learning about people. For that reason Mabel was well liked in the community and made many friends throughout the years. She moved from the farm to St. Andrews two years ago and developed a close friendship with Bev Kitts. She enjoyed feeding the deer and birds while residing at St. Andrews.
