Glen "Gary" Johnson, 77, of Hurdland, Missouri, passed away Saturday January 7, 2017 at his home under Hospice care.

The son of Glen and Lela Pauline (Hubbard) Johnson, he was born July 5, 1939 in Kirksville, Missouri. Gary was married to Virginia McFarland and to this union four children, Glenda, Buster "Gary Jr." (deceased), Orie, and Lisa were born. Later he married Shirley Baker and to this union four children were born, Paula, Jim, Gary, and Angie. At the time of his death he was with his significant other, Karen Ibrahim and to this union one child, Kayla Johnson was born.

Gary is survived by eight children, Glenda (Marvin) Magruder of Gibbs, MO, Orie (Bonnie) Johnson of Hedrick, IA, Lisa Walker of Hurdland, MO, Paula (Mark) Dearborn of Bloomfield, IA, James (Susan) Johnson of Hedrick, IA, Gary Johnson of Gibbs, MO, Angela Johnson of Kirksville, MO, Kayla Johnson of Macon, MO; one brother, Wayne "Peewee" Johnson of Sperry, MO; two aunts, Virginia Johnson and Idalee Uber; fifteen grandchildren, including Clayton his special buddy; fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Glen Gary "Buster" Johnson Jr.; one brother, Larry Johnson, and one sister, Barbara "JoAnn" Carvetto.

Gary received his education in the Kirksville public schools. Throughout the years, Gary worked as a self employed iron worker. He resided twenty years in Iowa and worked for MeJoh and Co-op Fertilizer plants, as well as working for the railroad and farming.

Gary enjoyed gardening, playing cards, playing shuffle board and pool, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Interment will follow at Refuge Cemetery, northeast of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Walker, David Walker, Wesley Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Marcus Dearborn, and Matthew Dearborn.
