Veda Ilene (Nelson) Critchfield, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville.

Born May 8, 1931 in Stahl, Missouri, Veda was the daughter of Percy and Panzie (Danielson) Nelson. On May 14, 1949 in Kirksville, Missouri, Veda was united in marriage to John M. Jackson and to this union two children were born. On December 5, 1974, she married Gerald Critchfield in Denver, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her parents; two brothers, Edwin Nelson and Eldon Nelson; a sister, Roberta Mildward and her step-daughter, Cheree.

Veda is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mallory and Debbie Jackson of Greentop, MO, and Brad and Sharon Critchfield of Denver, CO; two daughters, Vallory Jackson of Indian Hills, CO and Jody Critchfield of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley, Jimmy, Janna and Julie; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Avis Lunsford of Green City, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

While residing in Colorado, Veda worked as a florist. She dearly loved flowers, birds, mushroom hunting, cooking, fishing, and walking her dogs.

She was a member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Charles Jackson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Campbell Cemetery, near Novinger, Missouri.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 7, 2016, for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Barnes, Larry Bereswill, Garold Nelson, Jim Nelson, Jay Nelson and Ryan Barnes.
