Franklin D. Mills, 80, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Boone Hospital & Clinics in Columbia, Missouri.

He was born near Tulvanie, Missouri, November 17, 1935 the son of Orville C. and Cosie B. (Overstreet) Mills. On September 19, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri, Frank was united in marriage to Phyllis Shilling.

Frank is survived by his wife Phyllis of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Brenda Mills of Princeton, MO, and Arthur Mills of Kirksville, MO; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lucille and Frank Smith of Kirksville, MO, Cindy and David Dolbeare of Shelbina, MO, and Debbie Furgason of Kirksville, MO; one brother. Dean Mills of Kirksville, MO; daughter-in-law, Joyce Mills of Fairfield, IA; four sisters, Joanne Simpson of Brookfield, MO, Donna Chavez, Betty Ault and Judy Mills all of Kirksville, MO; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Frankie; one grandson, Brian; three brothers, Homer, Eugene and Dale Mills, and two sisters, Fern and Edna.

Frank was raised in Winigan and the New Boston areas. He served in the Regular Army, Army National Guard and Army Medical Reserves for nineteen years. Frank worked at the turkey and hog farms around Winigan a number of years before going to work for the City of Kirksville, where he was employed twenty years until retiring in 2001.

Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing over the years and he loved talking about all of his grandchildren and showing off their pictures.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Aaron Rodgerson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Price Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2016, for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Reeves, Jacob Mills, Troy Furgason, Blake Elliott, Jeremiah Smith, Leslie Mills, Steven Paul Calef, Austin Bane, Keenan Easley, Kylan Easley and Chad Easley.
