Nancy Isabelle (Sorrell) Herron, 74, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday (July 5, 2015) at her home after a courageous three year battle with cancer.

The daughter of Tim and Anna (Groseclose) Sorrell, she was born August 27, 1940 in Lancaster, Missouri.

Nancy graduated from Kirksville High School and Northeast Missouri State University with a degree in Art Education. She later received a Master's degree in Art form Central Missouri State University (now UCM). Nancy taught over forty-five years in Columbia, Illinois; Tulia Texas; Lee's Summit, Missouri and most recently for Moberly Area Community College (MAAC). Nancy and Buster W. Herron (from Texas; stationed at the Kirksville Air Force Base) were married on September 29, 1963. From this union a son, Barry F. Herron (wife Margaret Schrodt Herron) was born and then granddaughter Hannah Herron became the love of Nancy's life. Other family survivors include brother T.W. Sorrell (Joan) of Kirksville, MO; niece Sherri Robison (Keith), Collin Dobson (Marie); Devan Dobson of Hannibal and other much loved relatives.

Nancy had a great love of art and flowers.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday (July 7, 2015) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (July 8, 2015) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville with Pastor Dan Todd officiating. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
