Clarence James Roberts, 82, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday (May 28, 2015) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Edwin and Della (Dear) Roberts, he was born September 29, 1932 in Kirksville. James was united in marriage on April 13, 1952 in Amarillo, Texas, to Patsy Bull, who survives.

Also surviving is one son, Jay Roberts of Perry, Oklahoma; five daughters, Patty Carr of Kirksville, Dee Porter of Warsaw, Illinois, Jan Carter of Jamestown, North Dakota, Margaret Hollenbeck of Kirksville, and Peggy Slayton of Memphis, Missouri; twenty-seven grandchildren; and thirty-two great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Edwin E. and James D. Roberts; one brother, Donald Roberts; and two sisters, Bessie Roberts and Barbara Jean Roberts.

He received his education at East Center School. James served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Living in the Kirksville area most of his life, James farmed and worked in construction. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Kirksville. James was also a member of the Gideon's, American Legion and the Carpenter Union.

Public visitation will be held Sunday (May 31, 2015) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Monday (June 1, 2015) at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Robert Fredricks officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at East Center Cemetery east of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Andrew (Andy) Roberts, Tyler Treat, Aaron Hollenbeck, Jacob Woods, James Woods, Cary Porter, Joseph Woods, Daniel Spurgeon, Charles Porter, and Christopher James Porter.
