Alice May (Loe) Roberts, 83, of Yarrow, Missouri, passed away Monday (August 18, 2014) at the LaPlata Nursing Home in LaPlata, Missouri.
The daughter of Albert and Hadia (Sunderland) Loe, she was born August 16, 1931 at her parent’s home near Yarrow.
Alice grew up on the family farm southwest of Yarrow, attended grade school at Mount Zion School near Yarrow, and graduated from Kirksville Senior High School in 1949. She then obtained her nursing degree from Englewood School of Nursing at Englewood Hospital in Kirksville until the birth of her first child in 1957.
On December 31, 1955 in Kirksville, Alice married Randall Roberts, her childhood neighbor and the love of her life. This marriage lasted until Randall’s death on March 3, 2010 and to this marriage three children were born.
Besides taking care of her family and serving as the resident nurse for the neighborhood, Alice enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning and freezing homegrown fruits and vegetables, and reading. She was a member of the Yarrow United Methodist Church where she taught the adult Sunday school class for many years.
Alice is survived by her children, Mary Roberts of Unionville, MO; J.C. Roberts and wife Kenda of Kirksville, MO; Susan (Roberts) Eitel of Lee’s Summit, MO; four grandchildren, Aaron Eitel and wife Amanda and Megan Eitel, all of Lee’s Summit, MO; Joe Roberts and wife Lorenda, and Luke Roberts, all of Kirksville, MO; four great-grandchildren, Addison, Lillian, and Alice Lorraine Eitel all of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Kolt Roberts of Kirksville, MO. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Nellie Loe, and her husband, Randall.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday (August 21, 2014) at the Yarrow Cemetery with Pastor Sheila Swafford officiating.
No public visitation will be held.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Eitel, Joe Roberts, Luke Roberts, Gail Curtis, Colton Curtis, and Logan Curtis.
