Noble R.L. Redmon, 94, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday (June 9, 2014) at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

The son of Leroy and Anna (DeeHerr) Redmon, he was born in Macon County, Missouri, on November 11, 1919. On July 13, 1941 in Kirksville, Missouri, R.L. was united in marriage to Marjorie M. Novinger and to this union one son was born.

R.L. is survived by his wife, Marjorie of seventy-three years; his son, Alan Redmon of Kirksville, MO; two grandchildren, Jason Redmon of Novinger, MO and Jeremy Redmon of Kirksville, MO; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Carson, Tatum and Levi; two sisters, Oliveaun Herndon of Springfield, MO and Peggy Ammerman of LaPlata, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Thomas, Harold, David, Sharel and Paul Redmon, and three sisters, Orpha Collins, Genive McAfee and Blanche Perry.

R.L. attended Macon County rural schools. In 1941, R.L. went into the United States Air Force and was Staff Sergeant Flight engineer on B24. Upon being discharged R.L. started working at Northeast State Teachers College where he was employed until retiring in 1973.

R.L. enjoyed car racing, showing off his 1955 Crown Victoria at car shows and following Cardinal baseball.

He became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kirksville in 1941, was a member of Kirksville Masonic #105 AF & AM, and was a member of NEMO Antique Car Club.

Public visitation will be held Thursday (June 12, 2014) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service held at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (June 13, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Chris Redmon, Craig Redmon, Gary Redmon, Paul Perry, Don Price and Lonnie Byrn. Honorary pallbearers will be Leland Collins, Richard Buck, John Hayes, Don Mitten and Leon Bowers.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of R.L. Redmon may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Kirksville. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
