Phyllis Juanita (Barnhart) Rouse, 78, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away Monday (June 30, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Pearly Stewart and Twila Francis (Cornelson) Barnhart, she was born April 20, 1936 in Livonia, Missouri. In 1953, Phyllis was united in marriage to Charles Rouse.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Charles of sixty years; one son Davin Lee Rouse of Green City, MO; two daughters, Sandra Sue Dixon and fiancée Logan Waugh of Green City, MO and Teressa Mae Catalani and husband Phillip of Loves Park, IL; three sisters, Mary Rouse and husband Elvin of Floral City, FL, Annabelle Jones of TN and Betty Brandon and husband Dean of Centerville, IA; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Leslie Ervin Rouse; two grandchildren, one brother, Andrew Jackson Barnhart; four sisters, Gracie Lamb, Freda Barnhart, Bernice Rouse and Angie Flynn.

Phyllis began her education in Livonia, Missouri and finished her education in Rockford, Illinois. She spent nine years in Florida before moving back home in 1997 to make their home. While in Florida, Phyllis was a notary public.

Phyllis enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking, music, fishing and canning.

Phyllis was of the Baptist faith.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday (July 2, 2014) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday (July 3, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Charles Jackson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rose Cemetery, near Martinstown.
