Vena “Evelyn” (Clay) Redmon, 87, of Lancaster, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (June 18, 2014) at her home.
The daughter of George and Myrtle (Mahoney) Clay, Evelyn was born October 3, 1926 near Sidney, Missouri. On May 21, 1949 in Dubuque, Iowa, she was united in marriage to James Kenneth Redmon, who preceded her in death on February 12, 1996.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son William Joseph (in infancy), one sister Wanetta Anders.
Evelyn is survived by four sons: Dennis Redmon of Davenport, Iowa; Donald Redmon of Low Moore, Iowa; Ronald Redmon of Rochester, New Hampshire; and Michael Redmon of Lancaster, Missouri; four daughters: Mary Pearsell of Fairfield, Iowa; Rebecca True of Moulton, Iowa; Joyce Schoonover of Queen City, Missouri; and Margie Padget of Fairfield, Iowa; three brothers: Ernest Clay of Kirksville, Missouri; Wilber Clay and wife Linda of Martinstown, Missouri; and Wayne Clay of Oskaloosa, Iowa; one sister, Lorene Martin of Kansas City, Missouri; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn received her education at the Sidney Co. School. She and her husband moved to Schuyler County, from East Dubuque, Illinois, in 1978. Evelyn had a great passion for being a caregiver and took care of many people throughout her life. In addition, she enjoyed dancing and Polka music.
A public visitation for Evelyn will be held on Saturday (June 21, 2014) from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery east of Atlanta, Missouri. Pastor Ralph Wheeler will officiate the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Jon Pearsell, James Martens, Jason Redmon, Ron Schoonover, Randy Padget and Wesley Redmon.
