Winfred Lavern “Windy” Adams, 79, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday (December 21, 2014) at Kirksville Manor Care Center.
The son of Cleve and Juanita (Sevits) Adams, he was born February 3, 1935 in Kirksville, Missouri.
Windy is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Matt and Angie Adams of Kirksville, MO and Dale Adams; one daughter, Debra Adams; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Shirley Adams of Kirksville, MO; two grandchildren, Tyler and Nickole “Nicki” Adams both of Kirksville, MO; uncle and aunt, Wendell and Maize Sevits of Kirksville, MO, as well as a niece, two great-nephews, one great-niece, cousins and a number of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Windy was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1954. From 1955 to 1957, Windy served in the United States Army. He worked a number of years on the family dairy farm and worked numerous years for Emmett James on his farm. Windy was employed nine years for the Kirksville Fire Department and later was employed a number of years for Liesure World Bowling Center in Kirksville.
Windy was active in 4-H with his son Matt and his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and hunting.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (December 24, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Ralph Wheeler officiating. Music selections will be provided by Melodie Sevtis who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Interment with Military Honors will follow the service at Hazel Creek Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday (December 24, 2014) for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
