Darlene Marie (Craig) Downen, 67, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday (January 21, 2014) at her home.

The daughter of Cecil Lee and Hilda Eldora (Glaspie) Craig, she was born October 26, 1946 in Kirksville, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Delbert Downen and to this union two children were born. She was later married to Curtis Guiles.

Darlene is survived by her mother, Hilda Harrelson of Kirksville, MO; one son Tracy Downen of Kirksville, MO, and daughter-in-law, Margaret Downen; one brother, John Harrelson of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Connie Holt and husband, Darrell of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Chasity Pontello, Carrie Swain, Jacob Downen and Cory Eiler; three great-grandchildren, Dominic Torres, Carter Swain and Kaden Swain, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; one daughter, Sheila Helm; one brother, Carlos Craig and one sister, Charlene Craig.

Darlene was a life long resident of Adair County and received her education in the Kirksville R-I schools. She was employed at McGraw Edison several years before going to work at Donaldson’s Manufacturing where she was employed until it closed. Darlene was last employed fifteen years at Florsheim Shoe Factory until her health failed.

Darlene enjoyed yard sales and shopping.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (January 25, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Darrell Draper officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Llyewllyn Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. service time on Saturday (January 25, 2014) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Holt, Brad Penn, Rick Green, John Harrelson, Alva Glaspie and Eldon Risher.
