David Paul Aldridge, 67, of Brashear, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday (September 18, 2013 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The son of George and Ada Ruth (Everly) Aldridge, he was born April 23, 1946 in Queen City, Missouri. On July 2, 1966 in Kirksville, Missouri. David was united in marriage to Shirley Billington.
David is survived by his wife Shirley of forty-seven years; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Shane Ross of LaPlata, MO, Krista and Steve Zimmerman of Woodstock, IL, and Kelly and Christian Fehling of Lake St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Olivia Fehling, Alexis Zimmerman, and Grayson David Fehling; one sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Rodney Link of Argyle, IA; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Margie Aldridge of Wever, IA, and one aunt, Evelyn Everly of Bloomfield, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David graduated from Queen City High School with the Class of 1964. He worked at Lambert Glove Factory for three years and then worked at Donaldson’s Inc. seventeen years until its closing. At that time, David started working at Updyke Motors where he was employed five years before going to work at Lovegreen Ford, Jeep, Chrysler where he had been employed twenty-five years until his death.
He was a longtime member of the First Church of God in Kirksville, where he had served on church committees and was a Sunday school teacher. David had served as a Brashear school board member and was president when his twin daughters received their diplomas. His three grandchildren were the light of his life and he would have done anything for them.
David was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and was looking forward to the playoff season.
Public visitation will be held Saturday (September 21, 2013) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (September 22, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Scott Grogg and Pastor David Strong officiating. Music selections “In the Garden” and “How Great thou Art” will be provided by Melvin Bissey and music selection, “Daddy’s Hands” will be played during the service. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, MO.
Pallbearers will be Tony Keefe, Roger Billington, John Billington, Russell Billington, Jason Aldridge, Shane Ross, Brent Winn, Bryan Winn and Dan Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lovegreen, Steve Lovegreen, Derrick Snyder, Dale Maloney, Bob Rouse, Marvin Flynn, Roy Turner, Paul VanHoose, Richard Rhinesmith and Lonnie Winn.
