Randie Lee Lunsford, 63, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (June 14, 2013) at his home.
The son of Kenneth and Anna Louise (Shaver) Lunsford, he was born August 10, 1949 in Unionville, Missouri. On March 5, 1972 in Kirksville, Missouri, Randie was united in marriage to Chereye Koenig.
Randie is survived by his wife Chereye; one son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Jo Lynn Lunsford of Kirksville, MO; one daughter, Michele Lunsford and friend, Rob Brochu of Kirksville, MO; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sharon and Garry Billington of Green City, MO and Cindy Lunsford of LaPlata, MO; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Koenig of Kirksville, MO; six grandchildren, Ashley and Wesley Johnson, Tyler and Logan Garrett and Morgan and Jacob Lunsford; one niece, Sarah Bunch of Green City, MO; four nephews, Shane Billington of Green City, MO, Michael Koenig of Kahoka, MO, David Koenig and wife Audrey of Olathe, KS and Kelly Koenig of Kirksville, MO, as well as one great niece, Maddie Koenig and one great nephew, Dylan Koenig.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Ed Koenig.
Randie was a graduate from Green City High School with the Class of 1967. From 1969 to 1971, Randie served in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and worked many years in construction. In 1989, Randie began working in maintenance at Four Horizons for Doug Porter.
Randie enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. His love for his family was primary and he will be remembered for being a great husband, father, Papa and brother who will be greatly missed.
Randie was a avid member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1751 since 1974, receiving his Fellowship Degree in 1991, served on the Board, served as Governor twice, was current Treasurer and member of Moose Legion. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 2508, Masonic Lodge #105, and of the Kirksville Country Club.
Family will receive friends Sunday (June 16, 2013) from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
It was Randie’s wish to be cremated and a Memorial Service with Moose Rites will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (June 16, 2013) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.
