Dorothy Jean (Jackson) Lonberger, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (April 23, 2013) at her home.

The daughter of Roy Gilbert and Vinessa Viola (Fiscus) Jackson, she was born July 1, 1929 in Kirksville, Missouri. On July 18, 1946 in LaPlata, Missouri, Dorothy was united in marriage to Franklin Lonberger.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Frank of sixty-six years; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Gemma Lonberger of Kirksville, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Treda and Michael Moyer of Springfield, MO; one sister, Judy Berry of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Nicole Shelby of Columbia, MO, Vinessa and ReBecca Moyer both of Springfield, MO and Tristan Lonberger of Columbia, MO, as well as one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lonberger of Columbia, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Sam Lonberger; one grandson, Tyler Lonberger; one sister, Virginia Lee White and one brother, Roy Jackson Jr.

Dorothy was a graduate from Kirksville High School. She and her husband Frank owned and operated Lone Pine Kennels for over forty-five years. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed helping her husband train dogs. Dorothy also loved quilting, sewing, crafting, cooking, dancing, and riding horses.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kirksville.

It was Dorothy’s wish to be cremated and a memorial service will be held to celebrate her life, 7:00 p.m. Friday (April 26, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Michael McCormack officiating.

Family will receive friends on Friday (April 26, 2013) from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. before the memorial service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.
