Emil Dee Casey, 82, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (March 27, 2013) at Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville, MO.
The son of Roy Richard and Mildred Gertrude (Neely) Casey, he was born December 30, 1930 in Stahl, Missouri. On October 5, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri, Emil was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Paris who preceded him in death in 1983. On November 8, 1990 in Kirksville, Emil married Donna Sue Edelen who preceded him in death in 2004.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Casey.
Emil is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Billie and Lorie Casey of Galesburg, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Emily and Mike Conrad of Winston Salem, N.C. and Kathy and Mark Scritchfield of Coal Valley, IL; one step-daughter, Donna Allen of Fulton, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Maxine Casey of Novinger, MO; one sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Bill Morgenstern of Novinger, MO; sister-in-law, Laura Rachel Casey of Novinger, MO; six grandchildren, Bob Henderson, Jeremy Duncheon, Kristopher Munch, Jon Munch, Chrisie Robbins and Jeff Casey; twelve great-grandchildren, Bailey Henderson, Alex Olvera, Anthony Olvera, Aaron Kraklow, Xavier Scritchfield, Alese Scritchfield, Abigail Munch, Benjamin Munch, Ruth Munch, Timothy Munch, Michelle Casey and Michael Casey; three step-grandchildren, Ronald Bradshaw, Brandy Bradshaw and Stormy Harmon; eight step great-grandchildren, Ronald Bradshaw, Cory Bradshaw, Aurdy Wilmsmeyer, Brooke Phillips, Chase Phillips, Emily Harmon, Branden Allen and Isbell Harmon, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Emil received his education at the Green Grove rural school and was a graduate from Novinger High School with the Class of 1947. From 1956 to 1974, Emil worked eighteen years for Borden’s in Rock Island, IL. From 1974 to 1980, Emil was employed for Illini Beef in Geneseo, IL. From 1967 to 1971 he also operated heavy equipment and drove a truck for Woods Garage & Equipment Company in East Moline, IL. Emil was last employed in the maintenance department at Davenport Osteopathic Hospital in Davenport, Iowa, until retiring in 1995.
Emil loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, crafts, farming, and raising ducks, geese and quail.
Public visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday (March 30, 2013) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (March 30, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Casey, Bob Henderson, Jeremy Duncheon, Stephen Scritchfield, Kristopher Munch and Jon Munch.
